Provincial Youth Event
at Camp Arrowhead
Friday,
May 1, 7:00 p.m. check in
to Sunday, May 3, 11:00 a.m. departure
for youth in grades 7-12
Youth Leaders: Please note that Youth Leaders will sign up their groups and chaperone them. Please let Teri Valente know on April 17 how your numbers look. Then tell her your definite numbers on the April 24 in case anything changes. That will be a HUGE help.
Youth: if you are not sure what to do next - TAKE THE INITIATIVE - fill out the form (the link is below), get Mom or Dad to write a check and then TAKE THEM TO YOUR LEADER!!! Then get your friends to fill out the forms too - and give them to your Youth Leader as well!!
DETAILS: This is an event for students in grades 7-12. Your parish should send one adult for every five youth. The idea is that someone from home will xperience the weekend with them and can continue the conversation afterwards. (And Teri will have too many other responsibilities to chaperone as well.) As per Safe Church guidelines, adult chaperones will have separate sleeping quarters. This is a provincial event, meaning students are coming from all over PA, MD, DC, DE, VA and WV. Space is limited, so register your youth group ASAP.
COST: $100/student. Make checks out to Province 3.

AN URBAN EXPERIENCE
CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF SAINT JOHN
June 22 – 26, 2009
The Cathedral of Saint John is sponsoring a unique opportunity this summer for students 16-20 to immerse themselves in Wilmington city life. This is an exceptional chance to experience the elements of urban living from many distinctive perspectives. We will be offering an intensive one-week program designed to give participants an overview of the advantages and challenges of city living from the perspective of residents, community leaders, and elected officials.
This program is especially for those with an interest in education, social services, community advocacy, government, or medicine. Students will participate in exciting workshops, make visits to homes and organizations, and talk to city leaders to ask questions and gain greater insights. There will also be a community service project. This is a one of a kind chance to gain knowledge about and personally experience the inner city in a safe and significant manner. The possibilities for personal growth are enormous.
The program will be daily 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $125, with some scholarships available. All students will receive a certificate for 40 hours of community service; and a life changing experience.
