Photos of Parish Life Day 2007Photos by Leah Rowe Parish Life Day 2007 had 135 participants and 32 exhibitors, with 28 churches in the diocese being represented. In 2008, Parish Life Day will be held on Saturday, November 22, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., again at St. Anne’s School, Middletown. Musicians led us in song. What does prayer look like? Praying in Color, led by author Sybil MacBeth, introduced an intercessory prayer practice for the fidgety, visual, and word-weary person.The process uses pen, paper, and colored marker. The product is a prayer icon—a visual reminder to pray throughout the day. This workshop was based on the book of the same title: "Praying in Color—Drawing a New Path to God" by Sybil MacBeth. Through guided meditation, prayer, and the making of simple pinch pots and small sculptural pieces, we will cultivate an openness to the ways in which spirit can take form through the work of our hands. Drummers. The Pilot Congregation emphasizes inclusiveness within the Episcopal Church. The Next-to-New Thrift Shop offers a variety of goods at low prices in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Wilmington. |
We met at St. Anne's Episcopal School in Middletown. Classes quickly filled and most were closed by the day of the event. Spirit Taking Form: Meditations with Clay. In this hands-on workshop we used clay to explore ideas about creation, creativity, brokenness and wholeness, growth and transformation. Led by Carol Sexton, Art Director at Pendle Hill. Pinch pots. Children's activities. Episcopal Relief & Development works in many areas, including New Orleans re-development and fighting malaria. St. Anne's Episcopal School is one of the state's finest, for about 350 students in classes Pre-K through 8th Grade. The Choir of The Cathedral Church of Saint John unites many voices in song. |
