Most universities do NOT provide campus ministry groups with the names of incoming or returning students ... even when students have self-identified as members of a particular faith group. Earl Beshears has accepted a call to be associate rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Venice, Florida. Earl and Jean came to Delaware eight years ago from the Diocese of Easton. They have shared a vital and effective ministry at St. Paul’s, in the Georgetown community, and in our diocese. They plan to leave at the end of August. While we will miss their presence here, we wish them Godspeed as they prepare for this new ministry. 7/14/2010
The Rev. George Karney has been named Priest-in-Charge of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Fr. Karney has been ordained a priest over 50 years. He has served congregations in Connecticut, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, most recently as an interim priest at several congregations in both Delaware and Pennsylvania. Fr. Karney will begin his appointment with Good Shepherd August 1, 2010. George was an original member of the New Church Commission that planned for Good Shepherd. 7/13/2010

Annual Bishop’s Bash, Saturday, September 11, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Church, Middletown. Episcopal youth are invited to this event as a kickoff for the coming school year. It's an opportunity to meet other Episcopal youth from our Diocese. There will be good food, dancing, an opportunity to ask the Bishop anything you want to know about him and the diocese, and generally to have a good time. There will be Craft Vendors, Homemade Delights, Raffles (cash prizes), Lunch, Treasure Shoppe, Book Cellar (gently used books, albums, CD's). 100% of proceeds from the Autumn Fest and Raffle will be used to support local Outreach Programs.
Rev. Dr. Thomas Troeger, day-long preaching workshop, “All of Us for All of God,” Monday, September 20,at Grace United Methodist Church, downtown Wilmington. Tom Troeger is a remarkably gifted teacher and preacher. He currently serves as Professor of Christian Communication at Yale Divinity School, and is also known as a musician, hymn writer, artist, and an Episcopal priest. The day will include two learning sessions, lunch, and a workshop with Dr. Troeger preaching. This is an exceptional opportunity for anyone who preaches. The event is sponsored by the Peninsula Conference of the United Methodist Church. The cost will be $25 for the day. Prominent New Testament scholar Dr. Luke Timothy Johnson to give lecture on Friday, September 24 at 7:00 p.m. and a Workshop on Saturday, September 25, 9:00 a.m. to Noon at Christ Church Christiana Hundred. The event, titled “Learning Jesus,” is based on Dr. Johnson’s book Living Jesus: Learning the Heart of the Gospel. The Friday lecture is free and open to all. Diocesan Clergy Day Tuesday, September 28, at Christ Church, Dover, 9:30 a.m. social time, the program follows. The Diocesan Clergy Life Committee has planned the schedule of events for the coming year. These gatherings build collegiality and strengthen our common life as a diocese. Thank you for making these clergy events a priority amidst the other daily responsibilities of ministry.

This conference, sponsored by St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Middletown, will equip your church to help attract, welcome, and retain new members. Andrew Weeks, a nationally known and gifted lay evangelist, will teach about models of evangelism that are appropriate for you, help you discover your gifts, and reap the joy of being God’s instrument in changing other people’s lives. “Dolly & Dessert” Saturday, Nov. 13, 7:00 p.m., at
St. Albans Episcopal Church. St. Albans Choir and friends from around the Diocese will turn the Parish Hall into Harmonia Gardens and say: "HELLO DOLLY!” This evening of entertainment and delicious desserts will feature a chorus of singers who will perform, in concert, the award-winning music from the 1964 Broadway hit “Hello Dolly.” The dessert buffet opens at 7:00 p.m.;
music begins at 7:30. There will be no charge for this event. (Donations will be welcomed.) Seating is limited.

Driver Wanted: The Cathedral Choir School of Delaware is seeking a driver to transport students from school/home to the Cathedral Church of St. John in Wilmington for afternoon choir school activities Monday through Thursday, September through early June. Schedule varies from an afternoon start time of 2:15-2:45 and an end time of 4:30-5:30, depending on the pickups for any given day. Average of 9 hours weekly.
